Mumbai-based ABC Chemicals is a merchant firm trading in pigments, resins, resin raw materials, packaging raw materials, additives, plasticizers and surfactants. Apart from India, the company has offices in China, USA, Egypt, Thailand and UAE. At the Asia Coat + Ink Show 2019 in Mumbai, ABC Chemicals has promoted a wide array of solutions. In the space of pigments, the company deals in all kinds of organic and inorganic pigments, pigment chips, Carbon Black used for all kinds of news inks as well as flexo and gravure inks, to mention a few. The company’s portfolio for resins is made up of aliphatic hydrocarbon resin for printing inks and adhesive, thylene-vinyl acetate co-polymer resin for printing inks and coatings, industrial nitrocellulose for printing inks, and lacquers and polyurethane.
Talking about the business environment last year, Azmat Khan, senior manager for exports, ABC said that the year 2018 was much better than 2017 in terms of growth. “Yes, last year was definitely much better than 2017 as we met all our targets. However, it would be too early to predict how 2019 would pan out but we hope it will be better than 2018,” he said.
The company is also focusing on the TR52 pigment, which is supplied by UK-headquartered Billions Europe. This pigment was brought in India by ABC Chemicals in early 2017. TR52 is a rutile titanium dioxide pigment produced by the sulfate process and is specifically designed for the printing ink industry. TR52 is suitable for a range of printing ink applications and provides high gloss and opacity, combined with dispersion. It is suitable for a range of flexible packaging, metal packaging and paper packaging applications.
ABC Chemicals is also servicing the flexible packaging industry and offers all kinds of flexible packaging raw materials under one roof to the converting and the packaging industry. The company now offers aluminum foils, shrink sleeves, solvents, laminating adhesives, paper and substrates such as PET, BOPP, CPP, BOPA and PVC rigid films.
“Aluminum foils are our primary products for the packaging industry, and we sell about 80-100 tons every month in the Indian market. In overseas markets we sell about 200 tons of aluminum foil. The material that is supplied to overseas market goes directly from our partners to the consumers but invoicing is done in India or Sharjah,” Khan said.
Talking about the reason for participating in the show, Khan said that Asia Coat + Ink Show is an important event for the industry and provides a platform for all kinds of players in the industry to interact.
