CANPACK Group, a global manufacturer of aluminum beverage cans, packaging solutions for the food and chemical industries, as well as glass bottles and metal closures, is strengthening its global footprint with the opening of new investments in India. The Group inaugurated a greenfield beverage aluminum can facility in Nuh, India on 26 October 2018. Another production line was inaugurated in Bucharest, Romania on 30 October 2018.

Over 25 years, CANPACK Group has become a leading manufacturer in the beverage packaging industry in Central and Eastern Europe, and is constantly strengthening its market position in Western Europe, Asia and Africa. For the last three years, CANPACK Group has been launching two factories every year. Currently, the group has manufacturing operations in 18 countries, and sells products to over 100 countries.

Herman Nicolaas Nusemeier, chief executive officer and president of the Managing Board of CANPACK said, “This investment has been triggered by a forecast indicating that there is great potential for growth within the Indian market. We are optimistic that India will soon be one of the most important markets for the CANPACK Group. The decision to invest so highly in the country was taken after several studies, focusing on our sustainable development in the long term.”

CANPACK Group has invested nearly EUR 120 million in the construction of both new operations expanding its production capacity and offering a range of environment-friendly, recyclable, safe and high-quality can packaging solutions. New investments will also significantly influence the employment base offering direct jobs to over 240 employees in both locations.

The Nuh plant will employ approximately 160 workers, bringing CANPACK India’s total employment base to over 750 direct employees. The 36 acres of acquired land in Nuh will manufacture 180 ml, 250 ml and 500 ml cans with a capacity of 950 million cans per year and will employ a world-class manufacturing system. The capacity of this plant is expandable to 2.4 billion cans per year. Even though North India will be the major market space, cans produced at the Nuh facility will also be exported to neighboring countries.

The Nuh plant received first stage industrial clearance by the Chief Minister of Haryana through Haryana Enterprise Promotion Council (H.E.P.C.) for setting up its second Indian aluminum can manufacturing facility in Nuh Haryana, NCR region in February 2017. CANPACK is the first company who received this clearance through H.E.P.C.

CANPACK India, based in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, is India’s leading two-piece aluminum beverage can manufacturing company. CANPACK India set up a second unit in Aurangabad, Maharashtra in 2014, for glass beverage bottles production. This glass facility is equipped with world-class machinery and equipment from international suppliers inclusive of two furnaces and seven production lines.
