Zircon Technologies, a leading label and packaging converter headquartered in Noida and with its main plant in Dehradun, continues to add flexographic, converting and finishing equipment to its fleet of state-of-the-art presses and ancillary equipment. Sanjeev Sondhi director of operations of Zircon was quite visibly busy at the show making his next deal or perhaps, deals.

Mark Andy towards the end of the show announced Zircon’s most recent purchases as well as further purchases that are imminent. Two 17-inch wide Performance Series P7E presses – one a 10-color and the other a 12-color press have been ordered. In addition, Zircon has purchased five Rotoflex converting and finishing units – a Rotoflex DLI, two Rotoflex VLIs, and two Rotoflex VSIs.

The overall agreement announced also includes an additional order for another highly configured Performance Series P7E narrow web flexo label press and of three additional Rotoflex finishing machines that will follow shortly. Zircon is planning to open its fifth manufacturing site which is also to be in Dehradun. Approximately 250 kilometers north of New Delhi the new plant is expected to add about 100 to 120 new personnel to the company’s existing 480 employee count.

These endeavors aide the expansion of not only their facilities’ footprint in India as they prepare to open their fifth manufacturing site but also Zircon’s presence in the global label market. The newest facility will be located in Dehradun, India, approximately 250 km north of New Delhi, and is estimated to add approximately 100-120 new jobs to their existing 480 person staff.

Zircon Technologies expects to reach US$ 80 to 100 million in revenue in the next four years. and Sanjeev Sondhi, director of Operations at Zircon Technologies says, “This growth includes plans to invest an additional six million dollars in capital equipment over the next 12 months to help achieve those projections.”

Sondhi explains, “We are continuing to do what we have done since the beginning and that is reinvesting in Zircon Technologies. To maintain our target growth rate, it was necessary to further diversify our business and that is what led us, again, to the Mark Andy Performance Series and Rotoflex’s customized finishing solutions. The acquisition of new equipment enables us to extend our reach in the Indian and international label and packaging market.”

On Zircon’s continued expansion, Gourav Roy, Rotoflex and Mark Andy representative in India and managing director at Flexo Image Graphics, stated “Zircon started with a focus on self-adhesive labels in 2006 with a Mark Andy 2200 13-inch wide 8-color press. Since then, they’ve experienced exponential growth. The vision and appetite of Sanjeev Sondhi to take calculated risks and to have the best infrastructure helped Zircon to grow to the level it is today. FIG, and by extension Rotoflex and Mark Andy, are prepared to extend the best services and to continue to be part of Zircon’s growth.”
