Mumbai-based cartons solutions provider Okay Paper Products reinstated its faith in Bobst technology as it installed an Expertfold 110 A2 folder gluer with Accubrallie in May this year. The company already had an Ambition 76 A1 folder gluer installed in 2013. Okay Paper also has a Bobst Novacut diecutter, which it commissioned in 2015.
“We were facing some bottlenecks as we were having piles in the folding gluing section. Getting the Experfold has solved that problem,” says the company’s director Kapil Roongta. Not only has the bottleneck been taken care of by the Expertfold folder gluer, Accubrallie has helped Okay Paper to cater to the Braille cartons segment in a better way. Since the pharma sector is one of the most important segments Okay Paper caters to, Braille cartons are an important aspect for our customers. to consider.
In addition to the pharma industry, Okay Paper caters to industries such as healthcare, agro-chemicals and FMCG. It operates from its 50,000 square feet Vasai plant, which has both press and postpress departments under one roof. In the press section, Okay Paper has three offset presses from Heidelberg. It also has two retrofitted Heidelberg cylinder diecutters and two Platen die-punching machines in addition to the Bobst Novacut diecutter. All the manufacturing activities were shifted to Vasai in 2007 from Andheri. At present, the company converts about 250 tons of board every month.

The Expertfold 110 can process paper and cartons at speeds up to 450 m/min. Other salient features include a reduction in set-up time and the C.U.B.E. box, which rejects non-conforming cartons without stopping production. Its speed when handling 4-corner boxes is 28,000/hr. The Accubraille module offers the ability to emboss Braille onto all four panels of the carton, even across the running direction.
Being a long-time customer of Bobst, Roongta says the experience of working with Bobst over these years has been fantastic. “We are very satisfied with the Bobst technology whether it is the Ambition 76 A1 or Novacut or the new Expertfold.”
In terms of its new offering, Okay Paper is developing new anti-counterfeiting solutions for its customers and is also working on offering cost-saving solutions without compromising on the quality of the packaging.
Commenting briefly on the impact of GST on the carton industry, Roongta says that the change has been well accepted across the industry and there was not much difficulty in adapting to the new tax system. He feels that in times to come the new tax system will create a lot of efficiencies and raise productivity due to removal of a lot of unnecessary paper work that was needed earlier.
