Flexitest, a prominent supplier of material testing instruments in India, showcased an array of advanced testing equipment tailored for the flexible packaging industry at PackPlus 2024 in New Delhi. Along with its partner Labthink, a global name in permeability testers, Flexitest’s display underscored the critical role of laminates in packaging, offering a glimpse into the technology that ensures product safety, durability, and quality.
Laminates are the cornerstone of modern packaging, providing essential barriers that protect contents from environmental factors such as moisture, oxygen, and light. Flexitest’s stand at PackPlus 2024 prominently featured Labthink’s perm testers, designed to assess these vital barrier properties.
“From laminates, you get the final packaging. Our testers from Labthink test the physical and barrier properties of these laminates, ensuring they meet industry standards,” said Varun Fotedar, CEO of Flexitest. His emphasis on the significance of these instruments highlights their role in determining the efficacy and longevity of packaging materials.

Among the equipment on display were auto tensile testers, coefficient friction testers, heat seal testers, and leak testing instruments—all crucial for evaluating the physical properties of laminates. These tools are indispensable in maintaining the integrity of packaging, especially in industries where product safety is paramount.
The standout equipment at the stand was Labthink’s latest OTR/WVTR permeation analyzer. The barrier testing equipment, which measures oxygen and water vapor transmission rates, is instrumental in determining the shelf life of packaged goods. “The barrier property testing equipment is the most important as it directly influences the product’s shelf life,” Fotedar noted, reinforcing the importance of accurate testing in maintaining product quality.
Other partners of Flexitest at PackPlus included Tinius Olsen, a specialist in polymer testing equipment; AGR International, a USA-based laboratory inspection equipment supplier for the beverage industry; and Binder, a Germany-based specialist in climate simulation chambers.
Exhibitions such as PackPlus are more than just a platform for displaying products, they are an essential forum for industry interaction, networking, and business development, he said. “PackPlus is an opportunity to interact with new people and potential customers, as well as to strengthen our relationships with existing clients,” Fotedar remarked. According to him, for Flexitest, such events are crucial not only for showcasing their latest innovations but also for staying at the forefront of industry trends and customer needs.
Looking ahead, Flexitest remains focused on expanding its services and enhancing its customer support. As Fotedar explained, the company is constantly seeking ways to minimize downtime for its clients, ensuring their operations run smoothly and efficiently.
