“We have had a very good experience with Pack Expo over the years. If one wants to get an insight into the North American packaging market, especially the US, one must be here,” says Faisal Aheed, general manager – sales and marketing, Astro Films.
Talking more about the operations of Astro Films’ three divisions in Pakistan, Aheed says Astro Pack owns a 3-layer CPP plant and has a capacity of 1,200 tons per month. The second brand, Plastiflex, produces BOPP films and has a capacity of 400 tons per month while Astro Plastics makes BOPET films and has a capacity of 1,500 tons per month.
Astro Films has a good export business and close to 25% of its business comes from overseas markets like USA, Europe, Middle East and Sri Lanka. The remaining 75% of its business comes from domestic Pakistani market. In the US, the company conducts its business through distributors. Food packaging segment is the most important market for Astro in the US.
“We take the US market very seriously and want to expand our footprint here, which is evident from the fact that we have been participating in Pack Expo for so many years. Our belief is that we will continue to grow here,” Aheed said.
