Baddi-based Mahalaxmi Packaging has signed a deal to buy the recently launched Bobst Novafold 110 A2 folder gluer. The deal was announced on the last day of Pamex 2023 in Mumbai. Mahalaxmi Packaging has been into corrugated cartons since 2016 and has now decided to diversify into printing and converting mono cartons.

We are branching out into cartons as we have customers in corrugated, who require cartons. We also want to acquire new customers in the cartons segment,” says Raman Aggarwal of Mahalaxmi Packaging.

The Novafold 110 A2 folder gluer that will be installed at Mahalaxmi Packaging is equipped with a 4 and 6-corner attachment and a special corrugated kit with extended delivery. The Novafold 110 A2 is expected to be installed around June-end and the monocartons vertical is expected to be up and running from July.

The monocartons operations will be in a separate unit from the corrugated operations. Aggarwal will run the cartons business in partnership with his partner, Prashant Mittal. The company will invest around Rs 8-10 crore in the cartons business.

We have gone for Bobst because of the quality and after-sales service. We wanted to have a flawless converting department, which is very important when it comes to cartons. We hope that with the help of Bobst, we will be able to grow our monocartons business as well. Once our cartons operations start, we expect to convert around 200 tons of board every month,” Aggarwal says.
