Umax Packaging is part of the larger Uma Group, which also has Uma Packaging Professionals operating as a separate entity. While Umax Packaging mainly services
customers in the snacks, spices, dairy and confectionary segments, among others, Uma Packaging Professionals supplies flexible packaging solutions to customers in food staples segment such as flour, rice, wheat, grains, etc.
Umax Packaging was present at the recently concluded Plastindia 2018, where it displayed an extensive gamut of flexible packaging solutions that it can offer. The company showed solutions in pouch form, roll form, single layer and 5 layers.
According to Dinesh Lohar, business development manager, Umax Packaging, sustainability is an issue on which the company is seriously working. “We have started using water-based inks and are now looking to promote recyclable laminates,” he says.
A new CI flexo press being considered
Umax Packaging currently has a robust infrastructure with 12 rotogravure printing presses from Rotomec and Pelican. Lohar shares that Umax Packaging is now looking to bring in a CI flexo line.
“We are considering installing a CI flexo press because the jobs that require this technology are growing in India. This will also help us diversify the types of applications we can offer,” Lohar shares without disclosing when the new press will be installed.
In addition to Rotomec and Pelican rotogravure presses, Umax Packaging has dry and solvent-free laminators from Nordmeccanica and Worldly, film line, an inhouse ink kitchen, among others.
