New Delhi-based Convertech Equipment showcased its range of doctor blade solutions for flexo and gravure printing applications at drupa 2024 in Düsseldorf. Convertech’s Sureprint doctor blades are exported to numerous countries worldwide and are available in a variety of configurations to suit diverse printing applications.

We are a key component supplier for the printing industry. So, it’s always of interest to customers to come and see us and see what we can give to improve their print process. And that’s what we say in our punchline,” said Ravi Sanon, director of Convertech Equipment.

We don’t necessarily provide the most expensive business solutions. But we provide the smart ones. And I think that is what customers are really looking for. They are looking for somebody who would add value to their print process. And that’s why they come to us,” he added.

Sanon is extremely bullish about the packaging industry in India and Asia.

Indian market is just a part of our business. I would say the whole of Asia is growing. But developed market is a little flat,” he said.

Need for a shorter drupa

Sanon remarked that while drupa is a great platform to meet all stakeholders in the packaging and printing industry, it needs to be shorter in duration.

Because the environment is different now, I think the show is just too long. Eleven days are just too much. Ideally, it should be five to six days. For instance, somebody visiting to look at four or five different items already knows where to go and whom to meet. So, they do not need so much time. It’s outlived its utility of being so long,” Sanon said.

The number of exhibitors and visitors at drupa 2024 was lower than last time, he said. However, he emphasized that drupa remains a great platform.

It’s a good meeting point. Of course, there are always new potential partners who come in and see us. So, for us, it’s been very encouraging from that perspective,” Sanon concluded.
