At the PackPlus 2024 show in Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, MLM India, a leading importer and supplier of quality paper, paperboard, pulp, and newsprint, showcased its paper-based solutions that are designed to replace plastic in both food and e-commerce sectors.

Neeraj Jain from MLM India emphasized the company’s mission to offer viable alternatives to plastic packaging, which is increasingly under scrutiny due to its environmental impact. “We were at the exhibition to deliver solutions that replace plastics,” Jain stated. “From substituting plastic bubble wrap with paper alternatives to introducing paper tapes that replace plastic tapes, our focus is on advancing the transition to eco-friendly packaging.”

MLM India’s product range includes high-quality printing and writing paper, available in a variety of grades from 52 to 140 gsm. These papers cater to the diverse needs of modern print houses, which demand top-tier materials for both commercial and premium printing applications. The company’s offerings are known for their brightness, strength, stiffness, and bulk, providing superior surface, optical, and physical properties that enhance the quality of all kinds of printed materials.

Despite these impressive offerings, Jain acknowledged a shift in the market during his interaction at the exhibition. “The demand for printing and writing paper is slowly declining as digital alternatives continue to rise.” This trend underscores a broader shift In consumer behavior and technological advancement that is diminishing the traditional reliance on printed materials.

Jain pointed out that the real growth area for paper lies in the packaging sector. With both consumer preferences and government regulations increasingly favoring sustainability, paper is emerging as the best alternative to plastic packaging. “Paper packaging is not yet on a par with plastic in terms of certain properties, but ongoing innovation and development in the paper industry will eventually close that gap,” Jain said confidently.

Jain highlighted the strategic importance of participating in exhibitions such as PacPlus. According to him, these events serve as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and business growth. “Exhibitions are a great place for sharing knowledge and expanding our clientele,” he said. “Visitors at our stand learn about the latest innovations in the paper industry. Many of them become our customers, increasing our client base.”

As part of its growth strategy, MLM India is expanding its operations with new conversion plants in Bhiwadi, Mumbai, and Chennai. These facilities are expected to enhance the company’s capacity to meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging solutions across India.
