Mamata Machinery, a leading manufacturer of packaging machinery, made a strong impression at the recent Plastivision 2023 exhibition in Mumbai — showcasing two innovative machines that demonstrate its commitment to sustainable and high-performance packaging solutions.
The company demonstrated live a pouch-making machine and a BOPP bag-making machine, primarily meant for manufacturing small BOPP bags.
“The stand-up zipper pouch-making machine that we showcased here is processing 100% recyclable material. This addresses the growing concern about plastic waste and promotes the use of sustainable packaging solutions. The BOPP bag-making machine is for very small bags for packaging items such as buttons and artificial jewelry. It makes 1200 bags per minute and is highly automated. You require just one person to operate it. So, you need lower labor intervention and higher throughput,” said Apurva Kane, senior vice president, Mamata Machinery.
Talking about Plastivision, Kane said Mamata has been a regular exhibitor at the expo and always had a great experience.
“Plastivision is a very well-known show and we have been part of it since the beginning. The footfall this year has been great and we met some really interesting visitors,” he said.
Strong demand for flexible packaging in food segment
Kane noted that the demand for flexible packaging remains strong in the food sector, particularly for processed food. However, the non-food FMCG market is experiencing slower growth.
“We have observed that demand for flexible packaging solutions is extremely robust when it comes to the processed food category. In segments other than food, the demand is static,” Kane added.
