Through voluntary action and cross-sector collaboration, the Plastics Pact Network, co-convened by WRAP and Ellen MacArthur Foundation, is driving measurable progress toward a circular economy for plastics.

The Plastics Pact Network has eliminated over 360,000 tonnes of problematic and unnecessary plastics, which prevented billions of items entering landfills or filtering into the environment. In some Pact countries, rates of recycled content in plastic packaging have tripled.

Overall, members of Plastics Pacts prevented the use of over 2.2 million tonnes of virgin plastic by 2022. From aligning policy and industry practices to scaling innovation, the Network is demonstrating how local action can deliver global impact.

Catherine David, CEO, at WRAP, said, “This award is a testament to the power of collaboration. We are proud of the leadership shown by our Pact partners and participating organisations, whose dedication is helping to transform the plastics system for a more sustainable future.”

The GAEA Award highlights initiatives that are catalysing systems change and delivering tangible climate impact. The Plastics Pact Network’s recognition underscores the importance of inclusive, context-specific solutions and the strength of a thriving global ecosystem united by a shared vision.
