Team Michelman India at Pamex 2023

Michelman India showcased its latest offerings, which included next-generation barrier and functional coatings for flexible packaging, at Pamex 2023 in Mumbai. These coatings are designed to meet the increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions and help customers comply with regulations such as India’s Plastic Waste Management (PWM) guidelines.

We highlighted the Michelman Innovation Centre for Coatings (MICC) in Mumbai, a packaging incubator designed to help customers develop new prototypes of recyclable packing structures,” Rupali Sagdeo, account manager, Michelman India, said.

The featured coating solutions at Pamex included the water-based Michem Flex grade of coatings that help improve moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR), oxygen transmission rate (OTR), and heat seal of a packaging structure without compromising the recyclability. These environment-friendly coatings can be used for food, medical, and consumer goods packaging.

Pamex, a success for Michelman India

For Michelman India, the Pamex show is a great platform to meet its existing customers and other stakeholders from the packaging industry.

The show was a success for us. We reconnected with our customers and we formed new relationships with prospective customers. As the demand for environment-friendly coatings increases, many customers are receptive to trying out new technologies that can enable them to meet sustainability goals, which is a promising sign for the industry. The show was a great opportunity for Michelman to connect with key players in the industry and highlight our commitment to sustainability,” Sagdeo said.

The company met converters, manufacturers, and brand owners seeking solutions to comply with evolving sustainability regulations. The company received an overwhelmingly positive response to its coating technologies that provide the necessary barrier properties within the final structures that are sustainable and recyclable within the existing recycling streams.

Michelman’s comprehensive coatings solutions allow converters and brands to either downgauge packaging structures or switch to monolayer structures,” Sagdeo said.
