L to R: Yash Shrimanker of Pelican, Rajesh Jain of Taurus and Bharat Shah of Pelican at Plastivision 2020

At the recently concluded Plastivision 2020, which was held in Mumbai, Pelican demonstrated its turret slitter-rewinder, Acrostar, and rotogravure press, Solomark 6400.
Rajkot-based Pelican is one of the leading Indian manufacturers of flexible packaging machinery.

“The Acrostar turret slitter-rewinder that we showcased at Plastivision was also demonstrated at the K show last year. Some of the highlights of the slitter-rewinder include six servo axis, closed loop tension control on rewinder, turret-type rewind section, reel push off system and slit reel unloading and horizontal lay-on rollers. We have also removed a lot of mechanical jugglery, which has resulted in reduction of sound,” said Yash Shrimanker of
Pelican.

The Acrostar has a speed of 700 meters per minute and can process plastic films, laminates and paper. The machine has a maximum unwind reel diameter of 1,000 mm and rewind reel diameter of 600 mm.

The Solomark 6400 rotogravure press boasts of electronic line shaft technology, which offers some important advantages compared to conventional technology such as better operator access around the press, reduction in noise level, less mechanical parts and faster print register response. The press offers a printing speed of 400 meters per minute and maximum web width handling of 1300 mm. Talking about Plastivision 2020, Shrimanker said the exhibition was extremely well attended and the company could meet a lot of visitors during the five days.

“The footfall was good and the visitors were genuinely interested in the solutions we displayed. We were pretty busy on all days,” he said.
