Flexotecnica, part of the Cerutti Group, has won the FlexoTech 2008 award for innovation in printing press/finishing for its F12 CI flexo press that it launched at drupa 2008. It beat off stiff competition from around the flexo industry (other finalists were Omet Srl and Apex Europe BV).
The F12 is the world’s first wide web 12-colour CI flexo press and incorporates several innovations for optimising productivity and efficiency like the patented Safe Sleeve Change system that provides individual unit shutter guards to cover the CI and individual unit entry guards to allow the make-ready of idle print units safely while the remainder are in print and Wireless Press Control that utilises advanced WiFi technology and readily available PDA handsets that allows operators to conveniently control press speeds, substrate tensions, dryer temperatures, impression and register settings fro any position around the machine. The print deck also uses a new pipeless doctor chamber design that removes all ink piping from the operating area to outside the machine’s substantial side frames. The F12 runs at 500 meters/minute and can handle lengths up to 900 mm. It is now available for sale in printing widths from 1,000 mm to 1,600 mm.
