Greater Noida-based Holosafe Security Labels, a provider of labels and security solutions, has enhanced its portfolio by adding a Jetsci KolorSmart+ digital production press from Monotech Systems. The company, founded by Pankaj and Manjula Mishra in 2008, is a veteran flexo user with presses from Multitec and Nilpeter. It recently ventured toward digital, witnessing the growing demand for short-run printed labels.

During a visit to Holosafe’s factory located at UPSIDC Site B in the Surajpur industrial belt, we met the company’s second-generation leadership. Preeti Mishra, who recently joined the family business, was an investment banker in Madrid. During the interaction with Packaging South Asia, Mishra highlighted several turnarounds she plans to elevate production and security.

Mishra overhauled the company website, initiated its digital portfolio, and is working on expanding its customer base, especially in the premium segments. She wants to become an early adopter among Indian packaging providers by incorporating RFID technology (radio-frequency identification) in its solutions.

The company provides pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, in-mold labels (IML), paper labels, holography solutions, and static paper to the pharma, FMCG, alcobev, and automotive sectors and is growing at a CAGR of 66%.

According to Mishra, the decision to install The Kolorsmart+ press was made during Labelexpo India 2024. The inability to provide short-run labels helped cement the decision. The press has an additional pre-inkjet flexo station with standard UV curing to apply primers, under white or spot colors.

Pre-inkjet flexo stations can be used for priming, coating, or single-color printing with up to 6 colors (CMYK + white and orange). The press utilizes inkjet print head technology from Kyocera and has a sophisticated color management system.

“The digital press complements our already comprehensive production portfolio,” she says, “It provides the ease of incorporating both covert and overt security features. The variable data printing in the press aligns with our security solution portfolio. It helped enhance our short-run production and sampling, which was a huge hassle with flexo.”

Speaking about the industry, she said the market needs more raw material suppliers. “There are only limited raw material suppliers in the industry. Since our products are more quality-centric than cost-centric, it becomes difficult to procure raw materials as the same supplier may be dealing with multiple players. As such, delays are often a possibility.”

Mishra says the installation of the digital press would help open more avenues for Holosafe. “We plan to open an office in Delhi, where we will shift our sales, marketing, and accounting divisions. Investment in embellishment technology is also a possibility,” she concludes.
