Fujifilm
Rajesh Gandhi at Labelexpo India

At Labelexpo India 2024 in Delhi-NCR, Rajesh Gandhi, vice-president of Fujifilm Sericol India – Fujifilm Ink Solutions Group (labels & packaging + inkjet business), shared insights into the company’s progress, focus areas, and future goals.

Gandhi underscored Fujifilm’s consistent growth in the narrow web segment, a market the company has been actively serving for over 12 to 15 years in India and globally. He described the event as an excellent platform for promoting Fujifilm’s offerings and exploring new business opportunities.

Fujifilm’s sustainability commitment

A key highlight of Fujifilm’s strategy is its dedication to sustainability. “Globally, Fujifilm has started focusing more on sustainability,” Gandhi said. He referred to campaigns aimed at raising awareness and fostering positive change. The company champions the theme of “bringing the world more smiles,” reflecting its mission to create solutions that benefit everyone connected with its operations.

Fujifilm has set ambitious sustainability goals to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2050. These targets highlight the company’s serious approach to addressing climate change and its commitment to a greener future.

Innovations in the narrow web segment

Discussing solutions for the narrow web segment, Gandhi highlighted Fujifilm’s comprehensive product range. Historically focused on UV technology, the company has introduced LED solutions to meet evolving market demands. With its origins in screen printing, Fujifilm continues to provide robust screen solutions for the label industry.

Globally, Fujifilm is prioritizing inkjet technology. Already established in inkjet solutions for signage, graphics, textiles, and industrial applications, the company is now exploring opportunities in the digital label industry.

Strong Indian presence

Fujifilm Sericol has been a prominent player in India for nearly 28 years. Its headquarters near Pune houses a manufacturing facility producing a wide array of inks, including screen, flexo, offset, letterpress, and inkjet varieties. The facility also specializes in solvent-based and aqueous inkjet solutions for textiles.

Gandhi invited visitors to experience the facility firsthand, describing it as “a world-class setup” that demonstrates Fujifilm’s commitment to the Indian market.

Mixed views on Labelexpo’s evolution

While appreciating the significance of Labelexpo, Gandhi noted a decline in the event’s scale and attendance. “Previously, it was a very focused event where the entire industry would come together for four days. Now, there’s more overlap with other industries, reflecting the market’s evolution,” he said. Despite these changes, he remains optimistic about the event’s role in fostering industry growth.
