For the first time, Swiss manufacturer Zund showcased a live demonstration of its G3 series digital cutting machine at Printpack India 2025. The company, known for its high-precision flatbed digital cutting machines, displayed the G3 L-2500 model and highlighted its digital software cutting solutions.

The G3 L-2500 is a versatile cutting machine that can handle two-dimensional designs across various substrates, including FBB boards, corrugated boards, plastics, rubber, vinyl, and other materials. It is well-suited for short-run production and sample-making processes, providing manufacturers with a flexible and efficient cutting solution.

With a cutting speed of 1.4 m/sec and a cutting area of 1800 x 2500 mm, the machine can process materials with a maximum thickness of up to 50 mm. A key feature of the G3 L-2500 is its ability to facilitate non-stop operations, allowing operators to load jobs alternatively from the front and back of the machine, enhancing productivity and workflow efficiency.

Dheeraj Sharma, regional sales manager, Zund India, emphasized the advantages of Zund’s latest digital cutting software solutions, designed to streamline cutting processes and enhance overall efficiency.

Speaking about the quality and reliability of Zund’s cutting machines, Sharma said, “Our machines are the BMW and Rolls Royce of the cutting industry. With uncompromised performance and precision, these machines are long-term investments.” He said packaging companies using Zund cutting machines have reported long-term reliability, with many units operating efficiently for over 15 years—a testament to their durability and superior engineering.

During the interaction, Sharma provided insights into India’s evolving industry landscape. He said technology adoption follows a regional pattern, with southern India leading the way. “Companies in the southern part of the country are technocrats. They are the first to adopt new technologies, followed by businesses in the West, North, and finally the East,” he said.

This trend reflects the growing awareness and acceptance of automation and digital finishing solutions in the packaging and printing industries.

Sharma said the company received many industrial leads during the event. “These industrial leads typically take around 8 to 9 months to mature into hot leads. We will be actively working on converting these inquiries into sales,” he stated.
