At ProPak Asia 2025 in Bangkok, Multivac, a global solution provider in the packaging and processing sectors, presented its R-105 MF thermoforming packaging machine. Instead of unveiling new technological innovations, the company focused on appreciating its customers and reinforcing its stronghold in the Southeast Asian market, including India.
According to Jun Ya Saas, regional marketing manager, Multivac Thailand, this year’s motto was #MultiplyYourValue. Bringing automation, sustainability, and efficiency together in harmony. “We have been a part of ProPak Asia for over a decade now,” Sass said during a brief interaction at the event. “This year, our concept is not about innovations but about customer appreciation. We want to be closer to our customers and show our gratitude for their continued support.”
Saas said the thermoforming packaging machine demonstrated at the exhibition represents the company’s bestseller for Southeast Asia. “This machine is ideal for skin packaging – a technology that has become very popular across the food industry in this region,” Sass explained. “Vacuum skin packaging is highly popular in Thailand and neighboring countries. Although the R-105 MF is an entry-level machine, it initiates critical discussions around packaging reliability and shelf-life enhancement. It is compact and designed for small to mid-sized businesses.”
According to Sass, the R105 MF may not be a new launch, but its relevance in the market remains strong and it continues to be a preferred solution for food manufacturers looking for reliable, efficient, and space-saving packaging options. Skin packaging is particularly suited for preserving the freshness and presentation of food products – making it highly favored in Southeast Asian markets.
Highlighting the importance of the exhibition, Sass emphasized that ProPak Asia serves as a vital platform for Multivac to connect not only with customers but also with suppliers and industry peers. “This event gathers all the professionals, industry leaders, and technical experts in one place. It’s important not just for showcasing solutions but also for networking and collaboration,” she said.
While the primary focus was customer engagement at the show, Sass did hint at a few ongoing developments at the company. Notably, Multivac is investing in building new factories in Germany.
India focus
In terms of Asian operations, India is emerging as a key hub for Multivac’s plans. The company has recently opened a new Global Capability Center in Hyderabad, India. The center focuses on digitalization and IT—an area where Multivac sees immense potential and growth opportunities in the Indian market. “India is strong in IT, and the center in the future provides IT support and software development services for the whole Multivac group,” said Saas.
In 2023, Multivac also inaugurated a new production site in the industrial area of Ghiloth, India. Sass confirmed that the factory has been instrumental in enhancing the company’s capabilities to serve regional clients with localized solutions, quicker turnaround times, and increased support.
