Valco Melton, a global name in adhesive dispensing and inspection systems, participated in IndiaCorr Expo in Greater Noida. In a conversation with Packaging South Asia, Rod Blanton, international sales manager – Asia Pacific, said the show provides a great opportunity to communicate with its customers and vendors.
Blanton said the company’s complete focus was on customers as it wanted to make them look good before their clients. “Our customers want boxes to be free from defects; it’s not just about gluing a box anymore. This expo provides us the right platform to share our expertise and ensure our customers receive what’s best for them, even if it’s not from us. It also allows us to thank our customers who made us what we are today.”
Valco Melton’s quality assurance systems utilize specialized cameras and sensors to detect and verify color patterns, print registration, windows or inserts, product skew, gaps and folds, glue patterns (volume and placement), and more. Once a quality assessment is completed, the system provides a full report on the defects and how to curb them efficiently.
The company’s QA systems identify and isolate faulty products so that they can be safely removed before they get to a customer. Its inspection systems come with robust control packages and management software that provide remote control, off-site monitoring, and data tracking for review by quality personnel.
Blanton said the Indian packaging industry has huge potential for future growth. The urgency for enhanced automation and AI-enabled systems is paving the way for the faster adoption of new and advanced technologies.
“However, the Indian corrugation industry is several years away from reaching certain sufficiencies, such as speed. It’ll have to catch up, and when it does, we will be there to help. The converters are, however, catching up as the industry asks for more and more boxes,” he concludes.
