Industry leaders, converters, OEMs, brand owners, and policymakers gathered in Bengaluru on 5 and 6 August for the second edition of the Flexo Summit Asia 2026. Organized by ReEnvision Events, the conference moved beyond discussions of raw growth to focus on setting global benchmarks for the Indian and regional flexographic printing industries.

ReEnvision Events director Anil Arora opened the summit, setting the stage for a keynote address by Sanjay Ghoshal, head of packaging at Diageo India. Ghoshal emphasized that overcoming current market challenges requires cross-sector collaboration rather than isolated competition across the value chain.

The conference highlighted a fundamental transformation in global packaging driven by consumer demand, technological advances, and evolving regulatory standards. Sustainability has transitioned into a mandatory priority, with over 90% of shoppers choosing brands based on environmental responsibility.

To meet these demands, packaging is evolving into a digital bridge; by 2030, smart and connected packaging is projected to serve as a cost-effective digital interface directly connecting brands with consumers. Concurrently, brand visual designs are shifting toward minimalism and ingredient transparency to combat consumer visual fatigue caused by cluttered aesthetics.

Resource efficiency is driving parallel updates to materials and regulations. Companies are increasingly adopting lightweight, flexible formats that reduce material usage without compromising barrier properties, print quality, or safety. Regulatory compliance has similarly evolved from a basic legal obligation into a key competitive differentiator.

A subsequent market outlook session underscored how multinational brand owners are tightening specifications in high-growth Southeast Asian markets, where quality expectations are outpacing traditional process maturity.

In Indonesia, flexible packaging is projected to grow from US$ 4.79 billion in 2020 to US$ 5.97 billion by 2030 at a 4.52% CAGR. Brand owners are demanding strict global consistency in color and print performance. In this environment, a converter’s edge depends on its ability to produce identical results predictably across every run.

To deliver this level of precision, converters are turning to hybrid printing solutions. Combining flexo with digital, gravure, offset, or screen printing allows facilities to run specialized applications—such as pouches, stick packs, and prototyping—under one roof.

The summit highlights a call for packaging leaders to proactively drive internal change. Industry experts urged organizations to revise portfolio strategies, upscale customer segmentation, modernize innovation management, prioritize workforce development alongside automation, and foster collaborative partnerships across the supply chain.
