ExxonMobil concluded the first-ever ExxonMobil Signature Polymers Academy on 18 & 19 August 2026, in Bangalore, India. The two-day, in-person technical training program brought together 52 participants from 30 companies across India, Southeast Asia, Middle East and Africa’s plastics and packaging industry, including technical representatives, R&D specialists, and business and procurement professionals from the polymer value chain.
The Academy covered polymer fundamentals and performance properties of polyethylene, polypropylene, elastomers and additives, along with practical processing techniques, including blown and cast film extrusion, MDO films, film testing, lamination and sealing.
Sessions were led by ExxonMobil polymer technology experts, including the company’s Signature Exxperts, and combined educational presentations with interactive case study discussions. The program also included hands-on lab demonstrations at the ExxonMobil Bangalore Research & Development Technology Center, giving participants direct exposure to film testing, lamination and sealing processes.
The program equipped attendees with a deeper understanding of polyolefin technologies, processing of resins, and application development, while building confidence in applying advanced technical concepts to everyday manufacturing challenges in their respective organizations. Participants particularly valued the practical examples, structured learning path from basic to advanced topics, and direct engagement with industry specialists.
“The training was very informative and provided valuable insights into the expertise, processes, and advanced techniques ExxonMobil uses to develop effective solutions for Tetra Pak and other customers,” said Ajitesh Kalla, process manager at TetraPak. “The lab tour was particularly beneficial, offering a fresh perspective on laboratory quality management and demonstrating how ExxonMobil’s technical knowledge can support stronger root cause analysis and problem-solving.”
Given the strong turnout and positive response to this inaugural session, ExxonMobil is exploring opportunities to bring the Signature Polymers Academy to additional regions in the future.
