K&B aims to offer young people a sound, first-class foundation and modern tools to shape tomorrow's printing and packaging industry

With the start of the new apprenticeship year, Koenig & Bauer (K&B) is once again setting important tracks for the future. The international company welcomes its new apprentices across its various Group locations. Despite a deliberately adjusted and focused demand for apprenticeship places, the printing press manufacturer underlines its unchanged stance: the sustainable training and development of young people is and remains the core of its strategy for securing skilled staff and driving innovation.

In times of technological transformation in mechanical engineering, Koenig & Bauer focuses deliberately on high-quality, future-oriented skills. The range of apprenticeships spans from highly specialized technical professions in modern mechanical engineering to promising dual-study programs.

“Training young talent is one of our most important investments in the future. We offer our young people a sound, first-class foundation and modern tools to shape tomorrow’s printing and packaging industry together. Dedicated junior staff bring freshness, ideas, and innovative strength to our company,” emphasizes Dr. Stephen Kimmich, CEO of Koenig & Bauer.

Through direct involvement in real projects and agile workflows, junior staff gain valuable practical insights from day one. Supplementary offerings such as seminar series, exchange programmes, and personal development ensure holistic growth.

A key building block of the apprenticeship scheme’s success remains the close integration of theory and practice. At the headquarters in Würzburg, the traditional, company-owned vocational school provides an optimal learning environment with content precisely tailored to Koenig & Bauer’s highly complex products and technologies. At other sites such as Radebeul, Stuttgart, Veitshöchheim, and Mödling (Austria), career starters are also launching into an environment that combines decades of training tradition with advanced technology.

Dr. Christine Bötsch, head of Global Human Resources at Koenig & Bauer, adds, “A motivated and exceptionally well-trained team is the foundation of our future viability. With demand-oriented and excellent apprenticeship schemes, we secure highly qualified young specialists exactly where we want to set new accents in the future. We look forward to accompanying these young talents along their career paths.”

With the start of the 2026 apprenticeship year, Koenig & Bauer demonstrates once again that tradition and transformation go hand in hand. The ongoing evolution from a traditional machinery manufacturer to a modern technology group opens up diverse perspectives and excellent development opportunities across the entire Group for apprentices.
