Specializing in printed cartons, multicolor litho-laminated corrugated packaging and tertiary corrugated boxes, Bangalore’s Ragu Packaging serves the broader south Bengaluru and Ramanagara rural belt.
Owned and managed by Punyakoti Ragupathy, the company, established in 1991, has ventured into customized printed corrugated cartons at its new 55,000 square feet plant in Harohalli and a brand new RMGT 10 Series – 1060ST 6-color offset press with coater which is under installation and should be commissioned by the third week of October. The company also plans to install interdeck LED-UV curing systems compatible with the RMGT 1060ST. The RMGT 10 Series press at Ragu Packaging is the first brand-new RMGT 28 x 40-inch press imported into India since approximately 2010.
“In our early years of operation, consumers purchased goods directly from retail, but with the eCommerce boom in India, many startups and emerging brands want high-quality printed and colored corrugated boxes with UV and drip-off textures and met-pet (metalized polyester laminated to paperboard) inclusions,” Ragupathy told Packaging South Asia in a telephonic conversation.
According to Mordor Intelligence, India’s eCommerce packaging market is scaling rapidly, valued at over US$ 4.22 billion (approximately Rs 40,447 crore) in 2026, and expanding at a compound annual growth rate of 12.48%. The market is projected to reach US$ 7.59 billion (approximately Rs 72,747 crore) by 2031.
Corrugated boxes led with a 45.73% share of the country’s US$ 3.75 billion (approximately Rs 35,943 crore) eCommerce packaging market in 2025. The core growth drivers of the corrugated box segment include quick commerce websites, which demand durable and compact outer packaging for goods, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) brands and startups that use customized boxes for branding and micro-fulfillment packaging.
Additionally, there is a steady logistics expansion that has resulted from wider third-party logistics networks that have penetrated deeper into tier-II, tier-III and tier-IV cities as well as automated fulfillment centers that require uniform, high-strength cartons.
Customers these days, Ragupathy said, desire good presentation with fine printing details to stay ahead of the market competition. “Demand for durable and attractive corrugated packaging is growing daily as the population is growing and newcomers need to have that extra edge to maintain their presence in the market.” He added that he is putting in a new line for F and G flute corrugated boxes as the Southern Indian demand is moving away from E-flute litholaminated cartons.
On the latest RMGT 1060ST 6-color with coater, Ragupathy said the Harohalli plant is equipped to provide the outer multicolor printed sheets for 400 tons of corrugation board per month. “The new offset press will help us meet the growing demand in the eCommerce market, especially when the UV-LED curing systems are installed, providing UV special effects to help meet and exceed customer requirements.”
