Sudpack’s Competence Center for flexo printing in Kłobuck, Poland, has invested in an innovative, high-performance flexo print system

Exceptional print quality, high performance, intelligent automation, and optimized workflows: Sudpack’s Competence Center for flexo printing in Kłobuck, Poland, has invested in an innovative, high-performance flexo print system. The new machine went into operation in September. In addition to advanced automation and performance, it offers maximum flexibility and efficiency, extensive digital capabilities, and improved ergonomics for employees.

Flexo printing 4.0 – a new era begins at Sudpack Kłobuck. The new printing system is designed to handle a wide variety of flexible packaging materials for the food industry as well as non-food products. With this investment, Sudpack – a leading manufacturer of high-performance films and packaging solutions for the food, non-food and medical goods industries  – is further tailoring its package printing capabilities to meet the diverse and exacting requirements of its customers, while strengthening its position as a highly capable partner in the market.

Improved print quality, higher performance, greater flexibility

The star-shaped configuration of the printing units, combined with the high-precision mounting of the printing-unit shafts, ensures outstanding print quality even for complex jobs and at high production speeds. Designed for extra-wide webs, long repeat lengths, and high speeds, the new machine enables Sudpack to process large print runs quickly, flexibly, and efficiently.

At the same time, fast changeovers make even short runs economically viable. The optimized workflow also shortens lead times from the pre-press stage through to the finished product, giving Sudpack the flexibility to respond to short-notice customer requests and handle both small and large print runs. The standardized, efficient printing process also minimizes potential sources of error, ensuring consistently high and reproducible print images throughout the entire print run and on repeat orders.

Another advantage is that the machine is Industry 4.0-ready. Connectivity with IoT and ERP systems facilitates data sharing and provides a foundation for workflow optimization.

Automated job changes reduce operator workload

Two integrated, independent high-speed robots enable fully automated job changeovers at the touch of a button, making day-to-day operation considerably easier. With the printing machine still running, the cylinders for up to four subsequent orders can be set up in advance.

This gives employees ample preparation time for upcoming jobs and significantly reduces changeover times. RFID identification helps the printing specialists match carrier cylinders, anilox rolls, and sleeves correctly. Operators also benefit from easier, safer, and more ergonomic manual sleeve changes – there is no need to lift heavy adapters, and intuitive guidance is provided throughout the process.

Faster Processes, more flexibility for customers

With this investment, Sudpack is systematically advancing the automation and digitization of its processes. This makes operations more secure and transparent, while also creating more room for value-added activities. In this way, the company is strengthening its ability to provide customers in Europe with high-quality printed packaging solutions even more quickly and flexibly in the future.
