Multitec, an Indian flexo technology manufacturer, will showcase a broad range of its technology, including its S2 and S3S platforms, as well as run flexible packaging applications live at Loupe India 2026, held from 29 October to 1 November at India Expo Mart and Centre in Greater Noida.

According to Amit Ahuja, director of the Faridabad-based company, the conversation around press productivity is changing. For years, the emphasis was on how fast a press could run. Today, the more important question is how much profitable, saleable output it can deliver over an entire shift.

Whether in labels or flexible packaging, converters are handling more SKUs, shorter runs, frequent job changes and diverse applications. Under these conditions, running speed tells only part of the story.

Changeover time, makeready waste, tooling costs and the number of processes required to complete a job all have a direct bearing on profitability. This is changing the way converters invest in presses.

“At Multitec, we are seeing a clear shift towards application-specific configurations. One converter may want multiple embellishment options, another may need specialized coating, lamination or reversible printing capabilities, while another may be looking to expand from labels into shrink sleeves or flexible packaging,” Ahuja says.

For Multitec, the common objective is to bring as much value addition as possible inline, eliminate unnecessary production stages and get more saleable work out of the same press.

The company has built machines with multiple rail-mounted accessories, parking systems, reversible print units, multiple foiling units and foilsavers, lamination and other specialized capabilities. These are not simply additional features. They reflect the different business models and product portfolios of the converters investing in them.

“There is no longer one ideal press configuration. The right press is the one that makes the converter’s particular mix of jobs most profitable,” he emphasizes.

The same thinking is driving developments in mid-web inline flexo. With sleeve technology, extensive servo automation and faster changeovers, shorter flexible packaging runs can be produced economically and profitably, opening up opportunities that were traditionally difficult to address with conventional production methods, Ahuja explains.

Multitec sees the next stage of press development extending beyond mechanical automation, with better use of stored job parameters and production information to improve repeatability and reduce the effort involved in bringing a job back on press.

“We have new developments and unveilings planned for Loupe, which we are keeping under the wraps until the show,” he says.

The company’s focus remains on helping converters get more out of their pressrooms, whether through greater application flexibility, more inline processes, faster changeovers or smarter ways of managing production.

“I invite visitors to come and see what we have been working on. Come and discuss the jobs you are producing, the applications you want to enter and the inefficiencies you would like to eliminate. There may be more possibilities for your pressroom than you realize. We look forward to unveiling them at Loupe India 2026,” he concludes.
