Leading commercial printer Avantika Printers has officially initiated its strategic diversification into the growing digital label segment through a key investment in Epson’s SurePress L-6534VW digital label press. The investment was announced at Loupe India 2026 on 31 October in Greater Noida.
Marking the beginning of ‘Avantika 2.0,’ as they called it, this strategic transition reflects the company’s objective to build on its established track record in commercial printing by moving into specialty print applications.
Himanshu Pandey of Avantika Printers described the move as a long-planned evolution to keep pace with changing market dynamics.
“By adopting Epson’s SurePress digital inkjet label technology, we aim to meet the rising demand for specialty printing, custom label production, and high-quality narrow-web solutions. The integration allows Avantika to broaden its operational scope beyond traditional commercial printing into new digital packaging vertical markets,” Pandey said.
The SurePress L-6534W digital LED UV inkjet press can produce high-quality, durable labels and integrates all the functions required for label production. It has been engineered to optimize productivity and minimize downtime, offering additional print modes of 30 mpm and 50 mpm for faster, high-quality print runs.
Epson developed and manufactured the printheads, inks, LED pinning and curing lamp units, media feeding, control systems, and RIP software in-house.
The press can print matte, glossy, spot UV, and varnish printing in a single pass. It is a 6-color press — CMYK, white, varnish/orange- and can print on multiple substrates, including textured papers ranging from 18 mm to 320 mm microns.
Ashish Joshi of Epson underscored the collaboration, emphasizing a shared objective to push boundaries in specialty label printing.
Joshi highlighted that Avantika’s extensive experience and technical foundation position the press manufacturer and print provider to drive higher standards in quality, flexibility, and customer-focused customization across the Indian print industry.
This comes at a time when the label printing industry is witnessing a steady shift towards digitalization, driven by brands seeking greater flexibility, faster turnaround times and the ability to manage an increasing number of product variants.
Demand for premium, differentiated labels continues to grow, along with the need for more efficient ways to handle shorter print runs and frequently changing labelling requirements.
