Bostik has showcased two hot-melt adhesive products, Thermogrip HM 6134 and Thermogrip HM 7430, at Loupe India 2026 in Greater Noida, highlighting its focus on cost-effective solutions and sustainability for the Indian market.
Amit Bhargava, business director – AP&C at Bostik, said the company was participating in the event as part of its association with Loupe Worldwide, using the platform to present its product portfolio and discuss developments in adhesive technology.
The two products, launched over the past year, address different market requirements. Thermogrip HM 6134 is positioned as a cost-effective solution for Indian industry, while Thermogrip HM 7430 has been developed with sustainability in mind.
“HM 7430 is a mineral-oil-free product, which makes it a more sustainable option,” Bhargava said, describing the product as part of the company’s efforts to develop adhesives with a reduced environmental impact.
Sustainability across the value chain
Bostik, the adhesives business of Arkema, is aligning its product development with the group’s wider sustainability objectives, Bhargava said. The approach extends from the selection of raw materials to the development of adhesives that support recyclable packaging structures.
He said Arkema was a major global buyer of castor oil and that castor-oil-based raw materials were used in several of its products. Such materials offer an alternative to conventional feedstocks used in some adhesive chemistries.
The company is working on solutions for recyclable packaging. Bhargava cited Bostik’s involvement in RecyClass-related initiatives, which assess the recyclability of packaging and help promote compatibility between packaging components and recycling processes.
Adhesives are an important consideration in flexible packaging because they must deliver the required bonding performance while supporting the recyclability of the overall laminate. The selection of suitable adhesive chemistry can therefore play a role in the design of packaging structures intended for recycling.
Bhargava said Arkema was pursuing targets to reduce its carbon footprint and that the group was making progress towards its sustainability objectives.
Adhesives’ role in packaging
Packaging remains an important application area for adhesives, particularly in flexible packaging, where packaging structures help protect products, extend shelf life and reduce food waste.
Hot-melt adhesives are also used in tapes, labels, medical products and other applications, making them an important component in a range of converting and manufacturing processes.
For packaging manufacturers, adhesive selection involves balancing bonding performance, processing requirements, cost and sustainability. As recyclability becomes a more important consideration in packaging design, adhesive suppliers are increasingly working on formulations that can meet performance needs while supporting the development of recyclable structures.
