Gurugram-based Ishida India manufactures solutions for various sectors such as farms and ports, food processing, logistics and retail. The company participated in the recently concluded ProPak 2018 event, organized by UBM for the first time for the Indian market.
Ishida has been a regular exhibitor at all the events organized by UBM worldwide. Since UBM decided to bring ProPak to India, Ishida decided to give it a shot. “As compared to other packaging events, this is a very small show. We are also not getting as much footfall from the segment as we had expected. This participation is really on a trial basis. The decision to participate further in the upcoming editions will really depend upon the outcome of this edition. If the show is successful according to our evaluation, we will participate further; if not, we’ll call it quits. We are expecting at least 60 enquiries in three days’ duration of the event,” said Ramesh Sundaram, general manager – sales and marketing, Ishida India.
Ishida displayed its multi-head weigher at the event. The machine is fully automatic and can be used to package snacks, all types of free-flow granules, sweets, etc. The company also exhibited a machine for weighing dairy products and farm and poultry products. Ishida recently installed its weighing and dispensing machine at the Mother Dairy plant in New Delhi. The company has customers such as McCains, PepsiCo, Balaji Wafers, and Haldirams. The company also has a strong presence in the cosmetics sector with Himalaya and other companies as its customers.
Apart from multi-head weighers, the company had on display online check weighers. Online check weighers are used to check the net weight of the contents packaged. This inspection system allows companies to check the weight and dispatch the products. If any product is either underweight or overweight, it is rejected automatically. This inspection system allows companies to avoid losses in the production and packaging process.
Also on show was an online shipper weigher. A shipper weigher is an end-of-line carton box weigher, which checks the carton box for any faults and sends it across to the inkjet printing and coding unit. The company manufactures two kinds of shipper weighers: single-line shipper weigher and random shipper weigher.
The last product on display at Ishida’s stand was a metal detector. Metal detectors have a wide application in the pharmaceutical industry. They are also used in the food industry. The machine helps detect metal contamination of food or pharmaceutical products. The machine is also HACCP compliant. Ishida offers an X-Ray inspection system along with the metal detecting system for detecting glass, stones or any other form of contaminants that may be there in the products.
