Coesia Group showcased three products from its portfolio at PMEC 2014, which was held in Mumbai. On display were the tube filling machine by Kalix, flow wrapping machine for blisters by Acma and hybrid printing system from Hapa. All the three machines were aimed at both the pharmaceutical packaging segment as well as general packaging segment.

“We have tried to show some great products for Indian customer here at PMEC which are cost-effective aswell as stateof-the-art,” said Vaibhav Modak, regional head, sales, consumer goods machinery. “The Acma flow wrapper has been launched for the first time in India at this show and it is made in India.”

The Acma SP0 flow wrapper is a continuous motion horizontal form fill and seal machine to flowrap products such as plastic material and multilayer films with heat sealing(or cold sealing) material taken from a reel. The SP0 can also pack blisters of various combinations. The machine has a maximum production speed of 600 packs (pcs) a minute.

The Kalix tube filling machine KX803 is a cost-effective answer to production needs with a fast change-over time, according to Modak. It has a mechanical drive system and very straightforward electrical wiring for fast and simple maintenance. Moreover, the KX803 provides an optional system for oval tubes, weld seal and rounded corner trim. It has a production rate of up to 80 tubes a minute with tube volume range of 1 ml to 400 ml. “The KX803 has an integrated cartoning system,” Modak said.

The third product on show was the hybrid printing system from Hapa for pharmaceutical printing production. The UV Hybrid combines two printtechnologies into one system. The
economic UV Flexo and the fully digital, highly flexible UV DOD are designed to operate together, but can function independently.

“UV Flexo is ideal for all bulk printing but when the batch size shrinks and runs shorten digital technology becomes more cost-effective. The hybrid offers both options suited for
any individual requirement,” Modak said. Talking about the response seen at PMEC, Modak said that the foot fall has been huge as this is the premier show for the pharmaceutical industry. “Anyone and everyone from the pharma industry is here. As for us, we have received two serious enquiries, which is great,” he said.
