4evergreen is a cross-industry alliance formed to boost the contribution of fibre-based packaging in a more sustainable and circular economy

Global developer and manufacturer of environmentally friendly advanced materials, Michelman, in its effort to enable more sustainable packaging solutions for the circular economy, has expanded its network by joining 4evergreen, a new alliance sponsored by the Confederation of the European Paper Industry (CEPI).

The three-year-long project brings together a diverse network of organizations and stakeholders throughout the value chain, including brand owners, suppliers, packaging convertors, and recyclers, etc. to develop the best solutions for the future of fibre-based packaging,

“As a supplier to companies throughout the entire packaging value chain, we want to help transition the industry into more sustainable packaging. Our barrier coatings help improve fibre-based packaging’s functionality and performance while allowing it to be recyclable, which reduces waste and enables valuable fibre resources to be re-used many times,” says Lisa DiGate, vice president, Printing & Packaging of Michelman.

4evergreen is a cross-industry alliance formed to boost the contribution of fibre-based packaging in a more sustainable and circular economy. CEPI announced the formation of the allince in November last year. The alliance will increase awareness about the benefits of fibre-based packaging materials, advocate for EU legislation supporting product design for recyclability and call for the development of optimised collection systems and appropriate recycling infrastructures.
