Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) displayed its flexible X20 cutting system at Pamex 2024. At the stand, the team highlighted Kongsberg’s Psaligraphy Knife Tool, developed for fine details in thin materials such as paper and folding cartons, and the Rigid Material Knife Tool – a static knife tool suitable for a wide range of materials at high speed.
The focus on short-run jobs has increased the demand for short supplies of boxes from the company. Muhammad Rafiq Shaikh, sales and service leader, South Asia, said the machine on display solely focused on sample making, short-run production, and other packaging-related tasks.

“The Kongsberg X20 can handle jobs on everything, ranging from paper board, corrugated and foam board to PET film and flexo plates.” He says Kongsberg machines are effective for businesses looking to streamline operations and meet consumer needs effectively. “The machine’s performance speaks for itself. It’s known for its consistency, accuracy, and good quality finish.”
However, the showstopper at the stand were the chairs made of corrugated boards. “Everyone showcased machines. We tried to do something different. Rather than making the machine our showstopper, we made our chairs the star.”
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Rafiq expressed his optimism about the future, “We are aiming to reach pre-covid peak this year. Exhibitions such as Pamex, drupa and many more lined up this year will help it happen.” He spoke about the impact of elections on the industry, noting that the demand for printing and packaging typically surges during polling season. This year seems to be an opportunity for the team to achieve its goal, he said.
“New entrepreneurs, new experiences, new applications, and new customers are what we have been looking for in every exhibition. I got to see this at Pamex 2024 as well,” Shaikh said when asked about his experience at Pamex.
