Label Industry Global Awards 2020

The search is now underway for the world’s leading innovators in the label and package printing industry, with a total of five awards available at this year’s Label Industry Global Awards. These awards recognize those organizations and individuals who have excelled in the label and package printing sector in 2019. The top honor, awarded to either an individual or team, is the R Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison. Bestowed in memory of Stan Avery’s pioneering spirit and values, this recognizes an innovation or idea that has helped transform and progress the label industry across the world, whether collectively or individually.

Introduced at the 2019 Label Industry Global Awards in Brussels, the Rising Star Award, sponsored by Avery Dennison and the Label Academy, once again recognizes the emerging talent of an individual starting their label and package printing career, with the potential of becoming one of tomorrow’s leaders. Nominees should have worked in the industry for at least five years and demonstrate a strong potential for appointments at the highest levels of the profession.

The Award for Innovation is based on size; one for companies with over 300 employees and another for those with less than 300 employees. Entries must be for the development of a specific innovation by a supplier or converter company in 2019 and can either be for a new business process or technology-related. The Environmental & Sustainability Award acknowledges a new sustainable product or process introduced by a converter or supplier company in the label industry during 2019.

Mike Fairley, chair of the judges says, “I am delighted once again to be involved in the Label Industry Global Awards as we search to find, and recognize, this year’s most talented innovators.

“Now in their 17th year, these awards are as important and relevant as they have ever been. They show how people working together can achieve incredible things in our dynamic, fast-paced industry, and inspire others to do the same. Therefore, on behalf of the judging panel, I urge all sectors of the label and package printing industry to submit their nominations as soon as possible.”

“This year’s celebration will be a little different, in the absence of a gala event, but this will not in any way diminish the achievements of all the finalists and winners. We look forward to honoring them all in a special online awards announcement in September.”

Entry is free and submissions must be received by 26 June 2020. Finalists, along with the winner of the R. Stanton Avery Global Achievement Award, will be announced in early August. All winners will be announced online on 15 September.

Entry forms and full details of how to enter are available at www.labelawards.com.

Packaging South Asia — resilient, growing and impactful — daily, monthly — always responsive

The multi-channel B2B in print and digital 17-year-old platform matches the industry’s growth trajectory. The Indian, South Asian, Southeast Asian, and Middle East packaging industries are looking beyond the resilience of the past three years. They are resuming capacity expansion and diversification, with high technology and automation in new plants and projects.

As we present our 2024 publishing plan, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2024 will exceed 6%. The packaging industry growth will match the GDP growth in volume terms and surpass it by at least 3% in terms of nominal growth allowing for price inflation in energy, raw materials, consumables, and capital equipment.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 45% over the past four years. With orders in place, we expect another 20% capacity addition in 2024 and 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels are grown similarly. As the consumption story returns over the next six months, we expect demand to return and exceed the growth trajectory of previous years. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – and as shown by our analytics, our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

For responsible and sustainable packaging, with its attendant regulations and compliances, there is significant headroom to grow in India and the region. Our coverage includes the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and to waste collection, sorting, and recycling.

We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers. This is a large and complex canvas – the only thing that can work is your agile thinking and innovation together with our continuous learning and persistence.

The coming year looks to be an up year in this region, and this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing communication – in our rich and highly targeted business platform with human resources on the ground. Share your thoughts and plans and to inspire and mobilize our editorial and advertising teams!
