Piovan Group is an Italian company developing systems for the automation of production processes for the storage, transport and treatment of polymers, plastic and food powders. At the PlastIndia fair in New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan, it promoted its solutions for plastics, food and refrigeration businesses.

Piovan Group showcased solutions related to the refrigeration business, including air-cooled water chillers, size-reduction granulators, temperature controllers, feeding systems, dosing and blending units and dryers.

In the plastics industry, Piovan handles granules and PVC resin conveying, while in the food segment the focus is on flower oils and ingredients to make recipes. The food processing business is handled by its sister company Penta Food. Refrigeration has to do with the cooling process for the plastics and food processing industries. The company’s focus is on recycling and its Indian operations have been set up to handle granules.

Amit Bajaj, country manager, SAARC, at Piovan Group shared his views, “The plastic industry in India would have a growth of approximately 15-20% year on year. The packaging segment is expected to experience a big boom in the coming future. We relate our auxiliary equipment with the growth of the plastic industry because the process requirements would go up for machines such as injection molding machines or extruders. We see our growth on the basis of that because we are linked to the market in one way or the other.”

Recycling is an upcoming trend, Bajaj told Packaging South Asia. “It’s a government norm, which will be in force in the future. The plastic industry has to use some percentage of recycled material. The target of the government is to go up to 25% in the future. One has to use recycled material while focusing on how the waste is converted into a circular economy,” he said.

Speaking on PlastIndia, he said, “Pragati Maidan in New Delhi is the right location for PlastIndia. The last one was in Gandhinagar and we were not so happy with that. We have had a good inflow of customers with serious inquiries and the show has been good for us.”
