The Jetsci KolorSmart+ UV inkjet label press

Founded in 2001, Intercomo Doo is known as a manufacturer and supplier of thermal transfer ribbons, self-adhesive labels, and automation equipment. Based in Petrovaradin, Serbia, it has a significant presence throughout the country and customers across Europe. The company was the first installation of Monotech’s Jetsci KolorSmart+ label press during the Covid-19 pandemic. We have been able to have a look at a case study of the 6-color UV inkjet installation based on interviews with Saša Jovanović, director of Intercomo Doo, during the recent Label Expo in Brussels.

Jetsci provided a tailored solution that involved upgrading the software as per requirements that made KolorSmart+ UV inkjet Label Production Press to generate & print serialized barcodes in the desired sequence.

Jovanović says the Indian-built KolorSmart + label press has “Significantly enhanced our operational processes, particularly in producing versioning.” He says its advanced capabilities have streamlined the company’s workflow, allowing it to efficiently manage and execute short-run label printing with quick turnaround times. The precise color control features have empowered Intercomo to meet fast-changing market demands while maintaining consistent quality. It has experienced heightened efficiency, reduced lead times, and greater flexibility in meeting customers’ diverse requirements.

Addressing security-enhanced printing challenges

The Monotech Jetssci Global KolorSmart+ has played a pivotal role in addressing specific challenges in Intercomo’s operations, particularly in terms of innovative product development with a notable focus on security-enhanced train ticket products. Equipped with UV inkjet units with printheads offering 4 greyscale droplet sizes, it runs at speeds up to 50 meters a minute. The press’s advanced features have enabled intricate and secure designs that meet stringent industry standards and get into new market segments. With its streamlined workflow, lead times, which previously spanned several days, have been drastically reduced to just a few hours enhancing the overall agility of the business.

Downtime and support

Jovanović says that over a year and a half of running the KolorSmart, he has experienced negligible downtime while the support provided by the Jetsci team has swiftly addressed the technical queries or challenges that arose and ensured uninterrupted operations. “While serious downtime situations have been rare, we greatly appreciate the responsive support team’s quick resolution of minor issues. The mode of support was online and phone with no engineer support at the site, but the level of support we’ve received from Team Jetsci has been so comprehensive and timely that it often feels as if we have an in-house support team. This consistent assistance has bolstered our confidence in the reliability of the KolorSmart+ and has further strengthened our partnership with Jetsci Global,” he says.
