Life Sciences brands can bring packaging to market faster, with more accuracy and consistency, says Esko at CPHI Frankfurt

Visitors to this year’s CPHI Frankfurt event will be among the first to discover the latest Esko innovations specifically designed to boost Life Sciences brand packaging quality, efficiency and accuracy.

From 28-30 October, the global provider of integrated solutions that accelerate the go-to-market process of packaged goods will be at the Messe Frankfurt event to showcase its newest workflow automation solutions, developed to help brands maximize efficiency, sustainability, and profitability.

“The Life Sciences sector is one that often has to straddle the line between consumer goods and healthcare, opening up new challenges such as traceability, anti-counterfeit security and compliance,” said Esko CMO Jan De Roeck. “Stringent legislation, like the EU FMD (falsified medicine directive) that mandates unique identifiers on packaging in order to comply with track and trace systems – usually in the form of a QR code – means that neither brand owners nor their packaging suppliers can compromise on things like print fidelity and quality.

“At this year’s CPHI event, we will demonstrate our latest advances that ensure this accuracy in artwork management within the flagship Esko WebCenter Enterprise solution, which integrates with existing tech stacks to orchestrate custom go-to-market packaging and label workflows,” said Jan. “WebCenter guides teams efficiently through the intricate process of bringing critical product labeling to market – brands can access configurable workflows, automated quality checks, and a single source of truth for the enterprise artwork and label creation process to go to market up to three times faster.

“With a validated solution like WebCenter, brands can manage label and leaflet content, facilitate rigorous review and approval processes, and ensure seamless distribution while adhering to the rigorous demands of the life sciences industry,” said Jan. “Automated content updates and compliance checks enable teams to drive operational efficiency in the artwork change process and to minimize the risk of errors with pre-built rules and AI-powered agents, with WebCenter automatically generating ePI and ePIL outputs.

“A dedicated packaging artwork viewer efficiently allows all stakeholders to review, annotate and approve designs, while WebCenter reporting features deliver live updates on project progress and reasons for rejection,” said Jan. “This makes it incredibly easy for the user to pinpoint and resolve issues for optimal efficiency while ensuring quality and accuracy.”

From booth 08.M49 in Hall 8 of the Messe Frankfurt, Esko will also showcase how Esko Studio brings packaging design to life in 3D. “Patented print modeling technology in Studio gives teams the capability to design labels in 3D to perfectly fit structural packaging design,” said Jan. “By using actual production assets and syncing 3D models with printed packaging and creating a digital twin, Studio makes it simple to create 3D content, movies, virtual packshots, or a virtual shopping shelf.

“For design teams trying out different ideas, or for the prepress operator checking a back-match, enabling customers to virtually hold the pack in their hands helps accelerate speed-to-market and increase productivity by more than 80%.”

In structural packaging, ArtiosCAD remains the industry benchmark for 2D and 3D design with the software unlocking rapid prototyping, precision fitments, and clear communication across design and production teams. “ArtiosCAD handles the intricate details of the process, making structural design, product development, virtual prototyping, and manufacturing operations effortless and efficient,” said Jan.

“Combined with Cape Pack, the cloud-based palletization tool from Esko, Life Sciences brand owners can optimize packaging, cases and pallets to cut transport costs and associated carbon emissions, delivering sustainability and efficiency in one smart step,” he added. “Users can upload and share critical up-to-the-minute information with colleagues around the corner or across the globe to speed up design and approval processes.”

Esko will also spotlight its powerful new palletizing and supply chain optimization tool, Cape Pack Prime, that enables broader, data-driven decisions. “Cape Pack Prime uses real world product models to accurately calculate optimized packaging and palletization solutions that drive down costs and help customers meet their sustainability KPIs,” said Jan.

“We are excited to meet attendees at CPHI Frankfurt and demonstrate how the complete Esko workflow ensures quality, accuracy and consistency for Life Sciences brands.”

CPHI Frankfurt attendees can visit Esko at booth 08.M49 in Hall 8 of the Messe Frankfurt from 28-30 October 2025. For more on Esko WebCenter, Studio, ArtiosCAD, Cape Pack and the entire range of Esko solutions, visit www.esko.com.
