MeetingPack 2026, a leading event for innovation in barrier packaging, will hold its seventh edition on 21 and 22 April 2026, at the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe in Valencia. Under the theme Barrier Packaging Solutions: A Challenge for the Circular Economy, the congress will gather specialists, companies, and key stakeholders from the packaging value chain to address the challenges and opportunities posed by the transition toward more sustainable models.

Innovation in sustainable packaging

Organized by the technology centers AINIA and AIMPLAS, MeetingPack 2026 consolidates its position as the leading forum for discovering the latest trends in barrier packaging materials and solutions. Over two days, the event will offer a comprehensive program of presentations, round tables, and success stories focused on sustainability, innovation, and adaptation to circular economy goals.

The congress is aimed at packaging manufacturers, material and equipment suppliers, distribution companies, multinational food corporations, public authorities, food law specialists, and researchers.

Industry challenges

The final program is structured into eight thematic sessions led by around thirty experts, covering topics from the development of innovative materials to strategies for meeting sustainability targets set by Regulation 40/2025. Specifically, MeetingPack 2026 will open with a session dedicated to innovative materials for producing sustainable packaging. Leading companies such as ITP, TPL and Mitsubishi will present their latest proposals, followed by Marta Lara, senior marketing manager retail & sustainability EMEA at APA, who will address the perfect balance between recyclability and functionality in advanced packaging.

The day will continue with a session focused on sustainability in flexible barrier packaging, moderated by Antoni Segovia, sales director Spain & Latam at Moprchem. Speakers will include representatives from Leygatech and Quimóvil. In addition, Pere Becerra (Comexi) will present efficient industrial solutions for applying barrier coatings, while Marta García Blasco (Fakolith) will discuss advances in hygienic and water-based coatings to reduce environmental impact. Santiago Olivares (Rotoprint) will close the block by analyzing challenges and opportunities in the transition toward recyclable structures.

In the afternoon, attention will turn to innovations in rigid barrier packaging with a presentation by Jenifer Mitja (Totalenergies Corbion) on Luminy innovation and PLA bead foam packaging. This will be followed by a round table on packaging strategies to meet 2030 targets, featuring food sector specialists such as Joan Alcaraz from Platos Tradicionales and Cinta Bosch from Aecoc.

The second day will resume the debate on innovative materials, moderated by Mondi, with proposals from Quomovil, Novamont, and Avantium. The latter will showcase developments in next-generation materials derived from captured CO₂. Next, end-of-life and recyclability of packaging will be addressed in a session moderated by Pere Coll from Enplater, featuring presentations on monomaterial solutions for pet food (FCO GROUP), new generations of materials (Sovena Group), and real recyclability of advanced PE/PA films (UBE).

The program will conclude with a block on reuse and new business models, where AIMPLAS, AINIA, Germaine de Capuccini, FYCH Technologies, and RecyClass will share initiatives to advance toward a truly circular economy. Finally, a round table will bring together representatives from distribution, retail, and consumers to discuss trends and needs in packaging, led by Carmen Redondo from Hispacoop.

MeetingPack 2026 will also provide an opportunity to foster collaboration between industry, technology centers and institutions, promoting knowledge transfer and the development of solutions aligned with current regulatory and environmental challenges through networking spaces such as the congress dinner and the exhibition area reserved for sponsoring entities.
