DMARIO-16SA from DMA Innotec

DMA Innotec, in partnership with Supratek, will unveil its advanced engraving solution at PlastIndia 2026 in New Delhi. According to the company, the landscape of the global gravure printing industry is set for a significant technological shift as the flexible packaging sector faces stiff competition from alternative printing methods.

DMA Innotec aims to revitalize the sector by addressing long-standing technical limitations that have hampered gravure’s efficiency and quality for decades. Industry professionals can experience these innovations firsthand at stand H4GM-E11, where the company will demonstrate how its digital control systems provide a more profitable and stable future for high-end printing.

For years, traditional electronic engraving has struggled with the inherent constraints of its V-shaped cell structure. Because traditional methods engrave line-by-line, they often produce unsharpened edges on linework and text. More critically, the V-shape leads to low ink transfer rates, resulting in inadequate print density, undersaturated colors, and the frequent occurrence of missing dots in highlights and mid-tones.

“These challenges are particularly disruptive when working with metallic inks, pharmaceutical foils, and the increasingly popular water-based inks, often forcing manufacturers to resort to more expensive laser engraving or complex chemical etching processes to achieve acceptable results,” the company states.

To solve these persistent pain points, DMA Innotec has developed its patented advanced engraving technology, which helps transform cell shapes from the traditional V-shape to a high-performance U-shape.

Utilizing full-digital closed-loop control, this technology allows for the creation of U-shaped cells without sacrificing operational speed or requiring specialized hardware changes, as it maintains compatibility with standard 8K engraving speeds and existing styluses. This shift in geometry ensures a significantly better ink transfer rate and enhanced edge sharpness, providing a concise and economical alternative to more cumbersome engraving methods.

The benefits of this transition to U-shaped cells extend across the entire production cycle, offering substantial ink savings and improved drying efficiency. By creating a more uniform ink film during transfer, Advanced Engraving minimizes missing dots and enables high-density printing capabilities that were previously difficult to achieve.

This innovation has already gained traction among leading global enterprises across five continents, positioning DMA Innotec as a vital player in modernizing industrial process and control systems for the packaging and decoration sectors.

The foundation of this technology lies in a strategic synergy between German engineering excellence and Taiwanese precision assembly. While core research, development, and the manufacturing of critical components are centered in Germany, the final precision assembly takes place in Taiwan, ensuring a high-tech product that is both robust and meticulously crafted.

By integrating the latest full digital control technology with optimized PDF data formats and Cloudflow cloud-based workflows, DMA Innotec provides a user-friendly and highly competitive solution for demands of modern, digital-first production environments.
