Mamata Machinery, a manufacturer of plastic bag and pouch-making machines, presented a 9-layer blown film line at PlastIndia 2026 held at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan. Rajashekar Venkat, president of Mamata Machinery, told Packaging South Asia that this was the first time a 9-layer line of its kind had been exhibited at an Indian trade show.

The company further launched a 100% recyclable mono-material film designed for brand owners, offering high-barrier performance. “The mono-material film delivers barrier properties superior to PET/MET-PE and is witnessing strong acceptance in the market. It’s a fresh innovation, built on a completely different formulation than what the industry is used to. With the government pushing mono-material films, this solution fits perfectly,” Venkat says.

Venkat noted that brand owners have long been searching for an option that combines the required barrier performance with an accessible price point.

“This solution addresses the key challenges brand owners were encountering, including compliance with government mandates. PlastIndia has served as an excellent platform to present our technologies and create awareness among brands and converters.”

In the coming years, sustainability will remain central to the expansion of India’s packaging and allied sectors.
