Lanskroun, Czech Republic [25/08/2025] – A press release from Soma, the innovation-driven company in flexographic printing solutions, announces the establishment of Soma India Marketing Services PL, a strategic expansion reflecting the company’s commitment to the rapidly growing Indian packaging industry.

The press release states that, “With the Indian market experiencing unprecedented growth and transformation, Soma India is poised to become a key partner for local converters seeking innovative, efficient, and high- performance flexographic printing solutions. The new branch will ensure that Indian customers benefit from direct access to Soma’s cutting-edge technology, expert technical support, and tailored services designed to meet regional market needs.”

Soma India will be led by Suhas Kulkarni, a Mumbai–based, seasoned sales and operations leader with extensive experience driving business success in Asia. As the Country Head of the Indian subsidiary, Kulkarni will oversee operations across three South Asian countries – India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka towards delivering profitability and operational excellence for Soma’s customers while staying aligned with the company’s global vision of growth and innovation.

“India represents a vital market for Soma, both in terms of scale and innovation potential,” said Pavla Kusá, commercial director of Soma. “With Suhas’s deep expertise and long-standing experience in the Indian market, Soma India has grown into a strong and capable organization. Under his leadership, we have built a dedicated team that is fully equipped to meet the specific needs of Indian converters and to deliver the full value of Soma’s technology. Together, they embody our commitment to being a reliable, long-term partner for our customers in India.”

With a background as managing director of Technology at DKSH which partnered Soma in various Asian markets, and a strong track record in managing business lines ranging from data center solutions to scientific instruments besides printing and packaging, Kulkarni brings strategic insight and a deep understanding of the Indian market to his new designation at Soma India.

“We are excited to bring Soma’s world-class flexographic technology closer to customers in India,” said Kulkarni. “Our focus will be on delivering value through innovation, customer-centric service, and a strong local presence that supports sustainable growth for the entire printing and packaging ecosystem.”

As demand for high-quality packaging continues to rise in India, the company plans to play a critical role in helping converters meet some of the current challenges — from faster time-to-market and shorter run lengths to increased sustainability demands. The company says that its commitment to flexibility, automation, and precision will ensure that Indian converters remain competitive on both regional and global levels.

Founded in the early 1990s, Soma based in the Czech Republic is a leading manufacturer of flexographic printing presses, slitter rewinders, laminators and plate mounters. All its products are designed, manufactured, and assembled entirely in-house. The company serves a global market supported by a robust network of sales representatives.

Earlier this Soma installed and commissioned a CI flexo press at Mehta Flex near Mumbai. Another couple of presses are likely to be commissioned in Western India in the September to December quarter.

Note – Soma will be present at the Elite Plus Conference on Flexible Films and Flexible Packaging in Mumbai on 3rd and 4th September. Shardul Sharma and Naresh Khanna will cover the event for Packaging South Asia.
