Making its debut at Plastfocus 2024 in Delhi, SP Ultraflex showcased its latest developments in web inspection and its doctoring rewinding machine. The team presented live demonstrations of the WIR REV print inspection rewinder and the DRM VER-N, a narrow-width coil rewinder dedicated to OPP wrap-around labels, PE hygiene films, and other such difficult-to-handle substrates.
Asserting that the WIR REV web inspection rewinder is an ideal tool for print quality assurance, Gatik Arora, senior executive sales, SP Ultraflex, said it is capable of three modes of defect detection with full speed reversibility and can run at a speed of 600m/min.

Launched for Plastfocus 2024, the DRM VER-N doctoring rewinding machine is the successor of the DRM VER, which was launched at Plast India 2023. The DRM REV, the standard model for flexible laminates, was first modified to create the DRM VER, which was developed to build the DRM VER-N. The ‘VER’ stands for the vertical orientation of the machine that eliminates the need for the operator to bend down while loading the reels.
One of the key improvements in DRM VER-N is its ability to work on narrow-width labels ranging from 20mm to 250mm. “SP Ultraflex believes not only in machines but solutions,” Rohan Pankar, sales engineer at SP Ultraflex said.
Arora explained that the DRM VER-N was developed to address the challenge of running narrow-width labels at low tension. By reducing the size and weight of the rollers and using specialized bearings to minimize friction, SP Ultraflex was able to achieve the goal of running the machine at very low tension, a critical requirement for narrow-width labels. “Minimum width, maximum speed, lowest tension is what describes the machine,” Arora said.
Asked about the exhibition, Arora summed it up in a single line, “We aimed to get our sales team busy.” Looking ahead, SP Ultraflex is gearing up for drupa 2024, where the company plans a live demonstration of its machines. “A lot more surprises for our customers at drupa 2024 from SP Ultraflex.”
