On 19 and 20 September 2017, the packing cluster Packbridge will be holding its annual international conference ‘Top Packaging Summit by Packbridge.’ Covering the whole packaging value chain, this year’s conference revolves around the theme, The Packbridge Journey, and is based on a whole new concept with a mix of keynote speakers and company-based presentations on multiple stages. Up to 250 people are expected to attend the Stadion Massan in Malmo for the two days.
Johan Martensson, chief executive officer of Packbridge, said, “We have received a great deal of interest for this year’s conference and are very pleased to welcome several foreign delegations and exhibitors. The new concept, which will engage everyone—speakers, visitors and exhibitors—has been received very positively. It will be a conference that offers education and skills development with even better networking opportunities compared to previous years.” In addition to presentations on five different stages, there will be about 50 exhibitors on site. Martensson added, “We have keynote speakers from near and far—the most distant coming from California—and will also be offering an interesting program point during which a number of brands and retailers will give short presentations on their packaging strategy and what they want from the packaging industry.”
This year’s conference will focus on four main areas—materials, machines, packaging and the circular economy. At the beginning of the summer, Packbridge organized a ‘Start-Up- Day’ at Palladium in Malmo, Sweden and a large number of start-up companies and entrepreneurs gave four-minute pitches to try to convince the audience, and a jury, that they had some of the best ideas for the packaging industry. Ten of these companies went through to the final, where each will make a new presentation to the jury who will then nominate a winner. The prize money is SEK 50,000.
“We have established Top Packaging Summit by Packbridge as one of the major European, or even global packaging conferences, and international visitor numbers are growing every year. This year’s participants will really get something extra and they won’t leave the conference disappointed,” said Martensson.
