The Guala Group, already present in India, is strengthening its footprint in the country by expanding its local production of metal closures, including aluminum, premium and high-value solutions for spirits, as well as crown corks for beer and soft drinks.
On 8 August 2025, Milan-based Guala Closures announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire, through its Mumbai-based subsidiary in India, the metal closures division (crown corks and ROPP closures) of Oricon Enterprises Ltd, a publicly listed Indian company with diversified business interests. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Oricon Enterprises’ packaging division, Oriental Containers, is an established supplier and market leader in India, supplying closure solutions to over 100 customers in more than 20 countries. As of March 2025, the division generated €12 million in revenue over the last twelve months, that is, FY 2024-25.
Guala Closures has been present in the Indian market since 1994, focusing on plastic safety closures. With this transaction, the Group significantly expands its market potential with the development of its global crown closures division, launched in 2024 following the acquisitions of Astir Vitogiannis and Coleus. It establishes production capabilities in India, where the beer and soft drink (CSD) sectors continue to experience robust growth.
In parallel, Guala Closures will expand its premium and high-value aluminum closure range for the Indian spirits market, with locally manufactured ROPP closures and anti-counterfeiting solutions tailored to the high-end segments. This move will significantly strengthen its industrial and commercial presence in India while further extending its reach throughout the broader Asia-Pacific region.
With 37 production facilities and a presence in over 100 countries, the Guala Group is a leader in closures for spirits, wines, beer, non-alcoholic beverages, edible oil, and condiments. In 2024, the Group recorded over €830 million in revenue, powered by over 5,000 employees, 7 R&D centres, and 200+ patents.
