Exhibition space almost doubles
The Innovationdays.2009 opens its doors from February 16 to 19, 2009 in Lucerne, Switzerland. The industry event in its eighth year continues to grow, adding more space, new partners and more international visitors. The expansion into a second exhibition hall brings the utilized space from 5000 to 9000 square meters.
Visitors can see and touch a wide range of integrated solutions in an intimate atmosphere. As in the past an important part of the Innovationdays are Hunkeler’s 60 partners and co-exhibitors, ranging from well known digital press and printer manufacturers to solutions providers for pre-press, consumables, and finishing.

Real and congruent applications
A main attraction is the focus on real and usable applications. In Lucerne the exhibitors do not showcase single solutions but congruous applications centering on true customers needs. Hunkeler in close collaboration with its partners’ systems  joined to or with Hunkeler finishing solutions, shows a connected workflow concept. The synergies can be seen everywhere: in the digital printing of a mailing product, to added value finishing on a Hunkeler web finishing line, and the continued quality control and tracking of the products and jobs all the way to automated reprints. The Hunkeler Web Inspection System WI6 with Site Manager is used for communication and quality control.

We are well aware that most often Hunkelers conveyors or special applications are shown and demonstrated in conjunction with a digital press that may be die-cutting packaging as at the Xerox stand at drupa or collating and stitching a newspaper at the Screen stand at drupa. For those printers who are actually looking at developing automated solutions the Hunkeler event is ideal. First of all it will give an idea of the many possibilities that now exist in terms of in-line finishing. Secondly, if you are thinking of a product line that requires a solution, the event is the place to look at the new ideas and discuss your project with the experts right then and there.

The quality assurance of POPP6
In the center of the Innovationdays.2009 are the numerous new digital colour printing systems with special requirements for finishing of their different substrates. The gentle handling of these products is the challenge for which the Hunkeler POPP6 generation of finishing equipment has been designed. The durable and reliable rotary cutting process of the CS6 and the vacuum belt based non-stop stacker LS6 ensures a sheet transport without scuffing and marking.

Huncolor
Hunkeler’s POPP6 generation technologies are now combined under the “Huncolor” label. These include demanding applications for quality control and tracking, using the intelligent Web Inspection System WI6, which has gained strong market traction. The new full colour version is an innovaton.

The features of the POPP6 family are also available now for the web width of up to 670 mm with the new POPP7 generation of machines. With this group of components Hunkeler again strengthens its leadership position in the finishing arena of digital printed products.

Variweb forms with RFID
The highlight in the Web-Finishing segment is the production of intelligent forms with RFID transponders (smart products) on the Variweb. Other new applications offer manufacturers of smart products new opportunities to differentiate themselves in the market place including modules to create and produce interesting new single sheet mailers.

Process integration to paper waste evacuation
The process integration to be shown at the event with shredders and waste evacuation systems from Hunkeler Systeme AG is useful for any application or job from compact single line systems to complete waste evacuation solutions for the entire print factory. The new compact waste evacuation specifically designed for the Hunkeler CS6-ll high speed cutter will be shown in action for the first time.

Doxnet on site
Again part of the program of the Innovationdays.2009 is the Doxnet-Forum on site (formerly called Xplor on site). The event offers not only relevant and timely presentations but is the platform to meet and discuss industry topics with experts.
