AIMPLAS
AIMPLAS will also present upcycling solutions for high-value applications, transforming plastic waste into higher-quality, higher-performance products, as well as its developments in cleaning and decontamination

On 1 and 2 April, AIMPLAS, the Plastics Technology Centre, will be present at the Plastics Recycling Show Europe (PRSE) in Amsterdam, where it will exhibit its latest advances in plastic recycling and innovative solutions for sustainable waste management, its technological analysis and testing services to help companies certify their products, as well as its training offering for professionals in the sector. In addition, its leading researcher in Chemical Recycling, Mireia Fernández, will participate in the roundtable discussion “Exploring Pathways for Physical and Chemical Recycling” on 2 April.

Specifically, the technology center will showcase its expertise in advanced recycling technologies, including mechanical, chemical, enzymatic, and solvent-based recycling, with applications in sectors such as packaging, automotive, construction, and textiles. It will also present innovative processes such as pyrolysis, gasification, solvolysis, delamination, size reduction, and advanced separation to maximize efficiency in material recovery. Additionally, AIMPLAS will display its innovations for recycling complex waste materials, such as multilayer materials and cross-linked plastics, applying solutions like de-crosslinking for rubbers and elastomers or recovering critical raw materials (CRMs), essential for strategic sectors such as renewable energy and electronics.

AIMPLAS will also present upcycling solutions for high-value applications, transforming plastic waste into higher-quality, higher-performance products, as well as its developments in cleaning and decontamination through supercritical fluid technology, which has enabled it to optimise material recovery without compromising quality.

Some of the R&D projects in recycling and sustainability that visitors to AIMPLAS’s stand will be able to discover include ELLIPSE, PROMOFER, RETAIN, INNPRESSME, RECLAIM, TEXTENDED, FREE4LIB, SOLREC, CISUTAC, REWIND, SMILE-CITY, POLYMEER, REPURPOSE, REBIOCYCLE, Red Marfil, CICLICOM, RECIPLUS, OASIS, and DECONWASTE. Some of these projects, along with other AIMPLAS success stories, will feature demonstrators at the stand, allowing visitors to experience these technological advancements firsthand.

Analysis, certification, and validation

Regarding certification and analysis of recycled plastics, AIMPLAS will present its testing services for recyclability and recycled content, using accredited methodologies compliant with standards such as EN 13430 and EN 15343. It will also showcase specific tests for food contact applications, including the Challenge Test to assess the safety of recycled materials for such uses, as well as accredited advisory services for obtaining certifications such as Recyclass, APR, Petcore, and Blue Angel, facilitating companies in validating their recycling processes and products. About end-of-life assessment of plastic products, AIMPLAS will highlight its consultancy services aimed at process optimization and improving material circularity.

Training and knowledge transfer

As part of its commitment to training and sector development, AIMPLAS will present its comprehensive training offering at PRSE, including specialized courses on plastic recycling, sustainability regulations, and new processing technologies. It will also introduce its international events, such as the International Seminar on Plastic Characterisation (CHARPLAST), the International Seminar on Plastic Legislation (OKPLAST), and PLASREC, the International Plastic Recycling Seminar, where industry specialists will gather to discuss the latest trends and regulations.

Innovation and sustainability

AIMPLAS is a leading centre for innovation and technology in the plastics industry, focusing on sustainable solutions, advanced recycling, training, and certification of plastic materials—all with the aim of promoting a more sustainable and efficient future for the sector. With over 12,000 m² of facilities dedicated to research and technological development, 35 years of experience, and infrastructure, AIMPLAS has established itself as a benchmark in the sector, providing tailored solutions and pioneering technologies for plastic material recycling.
