Videojet

Videojet’s 9550 Corner Wrap

Videojet has launched its Corner Wrap applicator for its 9550 Print and Apply Labelling system. This applicator option provides substantial improvements in production throughput for applications that require labelling on two sides of the case so it can be seen from multiple orientations. “The 9550 Corner Wrap system prints the information on one continuous label and in a single process applies it to the two adjacent panels of a case, replacing two conventional applicators while ensuring that the information on both sides of the package is synched,” says Bob Neagle, business unit manager for Videojet. “The new applicator also follows in the path of previous 9550 series applicators by eliminating most of the causes of failures, adjustments and maintenance in conventional applicators.”

KBA acquires Iberica

Koenig & Bauer (KBA) has finalized a Letter of Intent with Officine Meccaniche G. Cerutti  (OMGC) in Casale Monferrato, near Alessandria, Italy for the 100% takeover of its Spanish subsidiary Iberica in Barcelona. Iberica with some 60 staff produces medium and large-format flatbed diecutters for board and corrugated packaging without its own manufacturing facilities and until now has mainly been active in Europe and in some overseas markets. The integration into the global KBA sales and service network would greatly improve Iberica’s growth prospects. The planned takeover underscores the press manufacturer’s focus on the growing packaging market. KBA’s sheetfed segment is the longstanding market leader in folding carton printing. Its international customer base for sheetfed offset presses and diecutters is largely identical. Further details regarding the planned takeover will not be disclosed until negotiations are complete as contractually agreed.

And they remain optimistic that acche din (good times) for the economy will come in spite of steep fall in exports over the past two years and the continued revelations of non-performing assets by the banks.
