Denmark-based Flexo Wash is one of the world’s leading providers of systems for anilox cleaning, plate washing, parts washing along with distillation unit for solvent recovery. It caters to customers across the printing industry including flexo and gravure, as well as corrugated, offset and coating. Flexo Wash has over 4000 installations worldwide at some of the leading and world-reputed packaging converters. Mumbai-based Scanvik Packaging is Flexo Wash’s exclusive agent for India and Sri Lanka.

In the last two months, some of India’s leading flexible packaging convertors have bought cleaning systems from Flexo Wash. KV Hebbar of Scanvik Packaging says his company has supplied a complete range of high-end cleaning equipment for anilox rolls, printing plates, press parts and a distillation unit for recovery of solvents to Amcor’s new flexo plant in Palej near Bharuch in Gujarat. This flexo unit is next to Amcor’s existing gravure unit. Amcor’s flexo division has three Comexi flexo presses, two of which are in operation
while the third is in the process of being installed.

Scanvik has also supplied a complete cleaning system to Hyderabad-based Vijayneha Polymers. It has also supplied a gravure cylinder cleaning system to Vijayneha.

Another company that Scanvik has supplied Flexo Wash cleaning system to is Mumbai-based Glory Films. The cleaning system has been installed at Glory Films’ Daman plant. Scanvik has also supplied anilox roll cleaners and plate washers from Flexo Wash to the Daman plant, which has a brand new 8-color Uteco flexo press.

“These major installations show that convertors now understand that even if they have the best presses, if you do not properly clean your anilox rolls and printing plates, which are the core of the press, you will not get the best quality. Taking proper care of anilox rolls and printing plates also increases their life,” says Hebbar.

He says that manual cleaning will be soon phased out in India as converters have become conscious and will be compelled to consider the environment and the effects of the manual process. “Food companies will put pressure on the printing and packaging industry to use
more eco-friendly cleaning equipment,” Hebbar adds.

Hebbar shares more Flexo Wash systems will be installed in the next six to eight months. “Scanvik is in talks with at least a dozen convertors across India and we hope to further increase the installation base of Flexo Wash in India,” he concludes.
