A new partnership between Hybrid Software and Cerm has resulted in significant opportunities for printers to improve efficiency and profitability by interfacing Hybrid’s innovative productivity tools with Cerm’s MIS products. Both companies focus on the label market, with Cerm selling almost exclusively to the traditional and digital narrow
web sector.

“Cerm is one of the few MIS vendors that has a global customer base and yet is market-driven, in this case supplying narrow web label printers and flexible packaging,” says Jan Ruysschaert, managing director of Hybrid Software. “This makes Cerm a very attractive partner because we also serve those sectors. Combining our two product portfolios creates some very exciting new possibilities for printers, who increasingly need to automate the entire printing process, rather than just prepress.”

The worldwide agreement means that existing users of either company’s products will be able to obtain a simple interface if they want to install Hybrid or Cerm software and link it to their current software. The first joint customers are expected to be announced prior to drupa 2016, while visitors to Hybrid’s Stand F41 in Hall 7A at the exhibition will be able to see demonstrations of the software being used together.

Hybrid’s Cloudflow solution has a new interface to the Cerm server and is based on JDF standards. It will enable a 1-up approval cycle for new labels, with Cerm MIS operators and Web4Labels users (brand owners) having the option to utilize Hybrid’s remote soft proofing system, Proofscope. The Cloudflow system will also use step and repeat information from the MIS system to create a step and repeat for output.

“There is a huge synergy between ourselves and Hybrid in terms of culture, technology, client-base and aims,” says Geert Van Damme, managing director of Cerm. “This agreement is certainly not merely a case of developing an interface. Our two sales teams are currently undergoing cross-training and we intend to collaborate closely in the future to ensure that all customers can benefit from new developments.”

Packaging South Asia is the cooperating media partner for drupa 2016 which is scheduled to be held from 31 May to 10 June at Dusseldorf, Germany.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
