June 02, 2009, Sun Chemical introduces a new UV Flexo Narrow Web ink, SolarFlex Nova. SolarFlex Nova caters to almost all narrow web processes including UV flexo, water-based flexo, screen whites and colours, letterpress and lithography. To provide the exact amount of SolarFlex Nova ink for a given job, an advanced ink management system works together with the associated colour tools and the Solaris ColourSat dispenser. The silicone-free formulation provides the receptivity required for easier print enhancements such as varnishing, foil blocking and variable image printing.

Sun Chemical has acquired certain assets and liabilities of Handschy inks, coatings and varnishes business, from its parent company, Graphic Packaging International, Inc. Handschy’s customer lists, formulations and trademarks will be included in the acquisition.
It is Sun Chemical’s intention to transition all products and customers into existing Sun Chemical facilities over the next 3-4 months. During that time, customers may continue to purchase their traditional Handschy products through their customary channels.
