VDP
The Omnia 335-336 mounting and proofing machine for mounting flexo plates on cylinders and or sleeves for printing presses in plastic film and paper industries

Bieffebi, based in Bologna in Italy, has a presence in more than 90 countries. The company produces ancillary prepress machines for the flexographic printing industry and has installed over 3,000 units worldwide. During the past five years, Bieffebi has developed three important world patents which gives their plate mounters a cutting-edge. A plate mounter has a pressure roller to remove the air bubbles between a sticky back and sleeve; a Virtual Data Processing (VDP) system which enables digital proof without inks; and an Automatic Quality Control System (AQCS-patent pending) through laser which allows the checking of the geometric tolerances of the printable areas and of all the equipment.

The VDP system allows the mounting in register of all types of plates with or without cross marks and microdots through images by using actual PDF files in the scale 1:1. The VDP mounting system with the same PDF or JPG file used for platemaking offers fast programming. In the mounting system with PDF files, you can check whether the plates match with the files in 1:1. A mismatch between the file and the plate could be caused by incorrect production of the plates due to an incorrect application of correction coefficients of elongation.

AQCS laser application
After the success of the VDP system Bieffebi developed another innovative technology called the AQCS (Automatic Quality Control System) laser application. AQCS laser application by means of a plate PDF file (color by color), checks and measures in about 90 seconds the geometric tolerances of the printable areas of the sleeve with the tape.

New generation and latest software solutions in plate mounting involve lesser manual interference and enable the operator to recheck all the parameters of the sleeves, anilox, plates and tape before mounting on the press thus reducing wastage and press downtime. Bieffebi new generation plate mounters have met with success in India during the past four years with installations in Mother Dairy, Kanodia Technoplast, Uflex (Jammu), Dynaflex, Montage, Kalpena, Huthamaki (PPL), Jayshri-Propack, Vishaka, Uflex (Noida), Global Polybags and Technovaa Group.

Packaging South Asia is the cooperating media partner for drupa 2016 which is scheduled to be held from 31 May to 10 June at Dusseldorf, Germany.

The impact, resilience, and growth of responsible packaging in a wide region are daily chronicled by Packaging South Asia.

A multi-channel B2B publication and digital platform such as Packaging South Asia is always aware of the prospect of new beginnings and renewal. Its 16-year-old print monthly, based in New Delhi, India has demonstrated its commitment to progress and growth. The Indian and Asian packaging industries have shown resilience in the face of ongoing challenges over the past three years.

As we present our publishing plan for 2023, India’s real GDP growth for the financial year ending 31 March 2023 will reach 6.3%. Packaging industry growth has exceeded GDP growth even when allowing for inflation in the past three years.

The capacity for flexible film manufacturing in India increased by 33% over the past three years. With orders in place, we expect another 33% capacity addition from 2023 to 2025. Capacities in monocartons, corrugation, aseptic liquid packaging, and labels have grown similarly. The numbers are positive for most of the economies in the region – our platform increasingly reaches and influences these.

Even given the disruptions of supply chains, raw material prices, and the challenge of responsible and sustainable packaging, packaging in all its creative forms and purposes has significant headroom to grow in India and Asia. Our context and coverage engulf the entire packaging supply chain – from concept to shelf and further – to waste collection and recycling. We target brand owners, product managers, raw material suppliers, packaging designers and converters, and recyclers.

In an admittedly fragmented and textured terrain, this is the right time to plan your participation and marketing support communication – in our impactful and highly targeted business platform.
